NYT Crossword #12,036 for Tuesday, November 3, 2026: a 15 by 15 grid with 74 clues, 35 across and 39 down, and answers 3 to 13 letters long. Tuesday’s Crossword is a step harder than Monday’s, and each answer stays hidden above until you ask.
How the daily crossword works
The New York Times crossword is a new grid every day: fifteen squares by fifteen from Monday to Saturday, and a larger twenty-one by twenty-one on Sunday. Across answers read left to right and down answers read top to bottom, and each answer shares letters with the ones that cross it. The puzzle gets harder through the week, from easiest on Monday to hardest on Saturday, and the big Sunday puzzle is about as hard as a Thursday.
How to use this page
Under the heading are the day’s across and down clues, each with the number of letters in its answer in brackets. Choose Show answer, or the clue itself, to open that clue’s own page. There the answer is hidden behind blank tiles: choose a tile to see just that letter, or reveal the whole answer. When an answer has a rebus square, which holds several letters, its tile shows them all.
A clue’s page also lists the other puzzles that used the same clue for the same answer.
Getting unstuck
Start with the clues you can answer without a doubt, such as fill-in-the-blanks and short abbreviations, then use the crossing letters for the rest. A Thursday puzzle often has a trick, such as a rebus or a theme that breaks a rule, so when an answer will not fit, think about the clue’s wordplay. Showing a single answer is a good way to see the trick without giving up the whole grid.
